Novfeed is a biotechnological company registered in 2020 that transforms organic wastes into alternative protein ingredients. The company uses natural microbes and industrial biotech that turns organic waste into a highly concentrated protein product with a focus on making nutritious, customizable inputs for the food system, thus enabling meat and aquaculture sectors to get food products.

Dada Lead

Dada Lead is a women initiative aiming to improve sexual reproductive health that is accompanied with sexual reproductive health education to women and girls in rural areas by manufacturing reusable sanitary towels that is affordable for low income households namely ELIMISHA PADS. Currently, Dada Lead has developed a prototype to test the feasibility of the product.

Mkaa Safi

Mkaa Safi is Ifakara Innovation Hub's second phase startup, joining the pipeline in 2021. Mkaa safi are producers and suppliers of alternative charcoal made out of wastes like bagasse and rice husks from farms found in Kilombero. They are reducing problems associated with climate change due to deforestation and health for problems resulting from carbon dioxide produced from normal charcoal. Mkaa safi are targeting regular users of charcoal especially local food vendors since the alternative charcoal produces no soot and is good for health.

Aquaponics - Soilless Cultivation

Ponicks Tanzania is innovatively tackling the problem of food insecurity by producing an automated system to enhance smart aquaponics for farmers. The soilless farming system integrates aquaculture, horticulture and poultry to produce organic fish, vegetables, eggs and chicken meat. Currently, Team Ponicks are developing their most viable product (MVP) for market testing.

Rice Wine and Yogurt

Vijana Kazi Mbasa (VKM) comprises five motivated youths coming from a remote town in Morogoro, Ifakara. They are adding value to the agriculture value chain by using broken rice grains to produce rice wine and the use of organic milk from cattle to produce yogurt. They joined the rural livelihood support in 2021 as rice farmers and now they are tackling poverty by using agriculture by-products to produce refreshments (wine and yogurt). VKM is looking forward to becoming a well known producer of quality rice wine in Ifakara, and currently, they are looking forward to certifying their products by Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) so as to reach their vision.

PAMOTO POA

Motivated for social change through social entrepreneurship and social impact, Pamoto Poa are producers of a gasifier stove and palettes that aims to provide clean cooking energy solutions to households in Ifakara. The pamoto poa gas fire stove imposed their first pilot to 100 households in Ifakara to test the market as their first MVP, and due to the good acceptance of the stove and affordability, team Pamoto poa are looking forward to producing more stoves and palettes to fit the demanding market.

Mushroom Growers

A group of motivated women engaged in mushroom cultivation, they are focused on providing a nutritious solution to health problems associated with bad dietary habits.
